How to Calculate Your UNIUYO Aggregate Score

March 18, 2017 by Editoro Dennis 107 Comments

UNIUYO does not publish an official aggregate formula. When it runs a post-UTME screening exam, the aggregate is widely reported to combine your JAMB UTME and screening marks 50/50: divide your UTME score (out of 400) by 8, divide your screening score (out of 100) by 2, then add them for an aggregate out of 100, which is ranked against your department’s cut-off. In sessions screened without an exam, admission is ranked on your UTME score and O’level grades instead.

UNIUYO Aggregate Score Calculator

Reported exam-session formula: UTME ÷ 8 + screening ÷ 2, each out of 50.

Aggregate: — enter your UTME score

UNIUYO publishes no official formula; this is the widely reported basis for sessions where a screening exam holds. In sessions screened without an exam, ranking is based on your UTME score and O’level grades.

The reported aggregate formula (exam sessions)

Aggregate = (UTME score ÷ 8) + (post-UTME screening score ÷ 2)

  • UTME is marked out of 400. Dividing by 8 converts it to a score out of 50 (that is your 50%).
  • The post-UTME screening is marked out of 100. Dividing by 2 converts it to a score out of 50 (the other 50%).

Worked example

Say you scored 272 in UTME and 68 in the UNIUYO screening:

  • UTME: 272 ÷ 8 = 34
  • Screening: 68 ÷ 2 = 34
  • Aggregate = 34 + 34 = 68

An aggregate of 68 clears the benchmark for most courses but sits below the mark competitive courses like Medicine or Pharmacy usually demand. Check what your course needs on the UNIUYO cut-off mark page.

Important notes

UNIUYO does not publish an official aggregate formula document. The 50/50 method above is the long-used basis reported by admission guides and matches how a 400-mark UTME and a 100-mark screening convert into a 100-point aggregate. Two things to keep in mind:

  • Your five O’level credit passes (including English, and Mathematics where required) are used to decide whether you are eligible, not added as extra marks in this formula.
  • For 2026/2027, the official notice describes online registration and document screening and has not announced a separate aptitude test. Whether a session is screened with or without an exam decides which method above applies, so confirm the current format on eportals.uniuyo.edu.ng before you rely on any single figure.

Because the two halves carry equal weight, a strong screening performance can lift a modest UTME score, and a weak screening can sink a high one. Prepare for both. Source on the screening exercise: UNIUYO Undergraduate Admissions.
